Smart, PGT sign event sponsorship contract

MAKATI CITY---The provincial government of Tarlac [PGT] and telecommunications giant Smart Communications, Inc. [Smart] signed an event sponsorship contract here, January 20, for the 2010 Palarong Pambansa to be held in Tarlac province.
The contract signing held at the Smart Tower here on January 20 will make Smart the official co-presentor of the Palarong Pambansa and will implement the media and merchandising values of the telecommunications company in the biggest sports spectacle in the country from April 11-17.
The sponsorship fee worth P1-million [inclusive of all taxes], shall be payable upon the signing of the agreement.
Under the agreement, Smart’s brand building will be allowed such as the immeasurable goodwill and sustained corporate citizenship in sports; product lock out; media mileage and exposure, provide photo-opportunity, inclusion of official Palarong Pambansa press releases, posters and other collaterals as major sponsor; inclusion of the phrase “via smart” in the dateline of articles sent by reporters covering the events that make use of the wi-fi access; full page ad in the Palarong Pambansa 2010 souvenir program and will be allowed to distribute flyers, hand company collaterals at venue and other areas under the jurisdiction of the provincial government leading to the venue.
Smart will also be allowed to offer to its subscribers Value Added Service through its text based infoboard, news and updates about the Palaro and to advertise availability of said service. Smart will be given a copy of event/game results by authorized officials of the Palaro and it will be provided selling area for their products and services at Palaro venues as part of its revenue opportunities.
The sponsorship contract’s signatories were Manuel V. Pangilinan, Smart Communication’s Chairman of the Board; Orlando B. Vea, Chief Wireless Advisor; Tarlac Governor Victor A. Yap and Emilio Abelita, the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Education.
Yap said that he is elated to have Smart as the Tarlac 2010 Palarong Pambansa major sponsor.
“I would like to thank Smart for trusting us in this endeavor and we will not fail them,” Yap said.
Pangilinan for his part likewise thanked Yap for choosing them to be a major sponsor and wished the governor all the luck in its hosting of the Palarong Pambansa.---PIO Media Affairs/Palarong Pambansa Publicity
