VICTORIA, Tarlac, Aug. 28 — A four-day sports management program was conducted by the provincial government here as part of its athletic development for the youth sector.
In attendance were Sanguniang Kabataan (SK, youth council) officers and barangay (village) officials of the province.
Governor Victor Yap said the objective of the seminar workshop is to upgrade the competitiveness of participants in different sports and provide basic skills and knowledge in organizing sports tournaments.
“We would like to see our fellow Tarlaquenos be competitive in this field and become well versed in organizing sports competitions,” Yap said.
The provincial government hosted the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) meet, the region’s biggest sports competition last March at the newly built and Olympic standard– Tarlac Recreational Park (TRP).
“We are ready to host big sports competitions as we have shown during the last CLRAA meet. Our athletes can always use the TRP as their training venue,” he said.
Tarlac has bid to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa.
Lecturers and trainers that took part in the four-day sports program came from the Philippine Sports Commission, National Sports Associations and from the Department of Education. (PNA)
